David Bentley QC secures rare not guilty by reason of insanity verdict

David's client JC was accused of attempting to murder a police officer with a knife. Psychiatric evidence was called that JC was at the time suffering from a psychotic episode, and believed the officer to be a disciple of the devil in disguise.

After a five day trial, a jury at Lewes Crown Court unanimously found the insanity defence made out, and returned a special verdict of NG by reason of insanity.

David was instructed by Steven Bird at Birds Solicitors.
