Doughty Street Chambers mourns the loss of Heather Rogers KC

It is with shock and sadness that Chambers announces the untimely passing of our treasured colleague, Heather Rogers KC. Heather died suddenly whilst at home yesterday. The impact of losing Heather, so soon after the death of Isabella Forshall KC, is truly devastating. To those fortunate enough to have known her, Heather embodied kindness, unwavering support to colleagues, and unparalleled competence, leaving an indelible mark on all of us. As the esteemed Head of the DSC Media Team and a cornerstone of Doughty Street's leadership, she exemplified dedication and provided resolute guidance to the chambers she held dear.

Heather was a highly distinguished practitioner of media law, having appeared in major trials and appeals over the last 30 years and having been editor of a leading textbook on defamation. She was notably involved in reform campaigns in that period to promote laws to enhance freedom of speech and access to information. Details of events to commemorate Heather’s life and work will be posted in due course.

In the meantime, we have established an online condolence book for Heather, to provide a space to express our grief and remembrance, to share with the family and one another. Click here to access the memorial page.

The Doughty Street family extend our heartfelt sympathies to Heather’s wife Julie, and all her family and friends at this distressing time.
