Doughty Street Chambers Shortlisted for The UK Diversity Legal Awards

Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in the category of Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Initiative at the UK Diversity Legal Awards 2019.

The UK Diversity Legal Awards were founded in 2009 to showcase and celebrate the excellent work being done by individuals, teams and organisations to engender greater diversity in the legal profession. It is the only industry awards which focus solely on recognising and promoting diversity, inclusion and equality across the legal profession.

Doughty Street Chambers has been shortlisted for its work with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which provides year 10 students, currently in foster care, with work experience placements.

Tottenham Hotspurs work experience programme has been running in chambers for the last four years. Chambers, in conjunction with the Tottenham Hotspurs Foundation provides work experience to young people who have been the beneficiary of the care system.  Chambers offer spaces for between 1 - 3 students during Spring or summer half term.  The students are usually aged between 14 - 18 years old and have expressed an interest in a career in law.  We provide the students with an opportunity to follow barristers to court and assist them with case preparation. The students are also allowed to participate in advocacy training where they get to wear the customary wig and gown worn by advocates in court.
