Dr Tunde Okewale OBE secures unanimous acquittals in major multi-handed firearms conspiracy trial

Dr Tunde Okewale OBE has secured the unanimous acquittal of his client on all counts following an eight week trial at Wood Green Crown Court.

The case involved eight defendants facing multiple allegations of conspiracy to possess prohibited firearms and conspiracy to possess ammunition, each with intent to endanger life. The prosecution relied upon extensive surveillance evidence, telecommunications analysis and the movements of the defendants to allege participation in an organised criminal conspiracy.

The defence challenged the prosecution's invitation to infer knowledge and agreement from association and circumstantial evidence alone. It was submitted that there was no evidence capable of proving that Dr Okewale's client knew of, or agreed to participate in, any conspiracy involving prohibited firearms or ammunition.

Following the conclusion of the trial, the jury unanimously acquitted Dr Okewale's client of every count.

Dr Okewale was instructed by Tai-ann Fadayomi of Banks & Partners.
