Emma Goodall KC’s client found not guilty of murder and all related charges

After a four-week trial BE was unanimously acquitted of counts of murder, wounding with intent and possessing a knife. He was charged and tried alone after his brother and a second defendant had been convicted in earlier proceedings in which BE became named as a perpetrator by a key witness.  The prosecution alleged that BE was instrumental in a group knife attack during which two males were stabbed, one of which fatally.

Following extensive cross-examination and through the introduction of unused CCTV footage, a counter narrative was advanced exposing the witness to be manifestly unreliable.
