Inter-American Commission on Human Rights finds Jamaica in violation of international law and urges repeal of homophobic criminal laws

Edward Fitzgerald QC worked with the Human Dignity Trust, and Douglas Mendes SC of the Trinidadian Bar and an Associate Member of Chambers, to help win a case before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights against Jamaica.  This decision condemns Jamaica for their laws criminalising intimacy for consenting men.

The judgment requires the authorities to address past harms and to ensure that the persecution of the LGBT community in Jamaica comes to an end.
