Joe Stone KC secures murder acquittal of President of Hells Angels biker club

Joe Stone KC secures the murder acquittal of a Hells Angel biker accused of running down and killing a rival Hells Angel biker – R v CB. Joe represented the defendant who was the President of the “Banditos” (Hells Angels group with an international reach). The deceased was a member of the “Red Chiefs”. The murder took place on the A38 in the context of a dispute over territory (“colours/cuts”). A leading expert on Hells Angels groups was called at trial. There were also complex issues as to the admissibility of lip reading evidence and forensic collision analysis during the 1 month trial at Plymouth Crown Court. A rare OSA direction (OSA - Overwhelming Supervening Act) was put to the jury by the trial judge after defence submissions.
