Louise Willocx secures not-guilty verdict for assault
Louise Willocx's client was charged with common assault on her neighbour. She was video recorded during the alleged assault and the complainant could be heard to be saying “she is hitting me”.
Through effective cross-examination and by relying on details from the undisclosed materials, Louise was able to establish that the neighbour was in fact the aggressor and that her client had acted in self-defence.
Louise was further successful in adducing the complainant’s bad character, whereas the Crown’s bad character application in relation to her client was refused.
The District Judge found that the prosecution had not satisfied him that the defendant was not acting in self-defence nor unreasonably and found her not guilty.
Louise was instructed by Alice Dodd and Sian Standbridge from Lewis Nedas Solicitors.
