Sarah Vine’s client found not guilty following legal argument in which the judge was persuaded that there was no case to answer

Sarah Vine has secured a not guilty verdict for one of two 21 year old men, following legal argument in which the judge was persuaded that there was no case for the defendants to answer. The case involved historical allegations of a campaign of rape, said to have been carried out in the context of an extended family. The argument revolved around the ages of the defendants at the time of the alleged offences, and resulted in the judge concluding that the Prosecution evidence was so vague that the defendants could not be proven to be above the age of criminal responsibility at the relevant time.
