Sir Andrew Nicol KC

We are very sorry to report the death of Sir Andrew Nicol KC after a long illness. We send our heartfelt condolences to Camilla Palmer KC (Hon) (an Associate Member of Chambers) and to the rest of Andy’s family.

Andy was a founding member of Chambers in 1990 and a brilliant media barrister (and before that, a distinguished law lecturer at the London School of Economics). He co-authored the seminal media law textbook, Media Law, with Geoffrey Robertson AO KC. Andy was also one of the brightest of the leading lights at the Immigration Bar. He was a stalwart member of Chambers’ Management Committee and a long-serving Treasurer, and he led both the media and immigration teams before he was elevated to the High Court Bench in 2009. He is remembered with great affection for his kindness, erudition, and dedication to the wellbeing of Chambers and its members.
