Susie Alegre elected to the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files

Doughty Street Chambers is proud to announce our Associate Tenant Susie Alegre has been elected to the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF).

INTERPOL processes a large volume of personal data through their notices and databases on criminals and crimes, such as names, photos, identifying features and fingerprints. The Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) is an independent, impartial oversight body, officially responsible for ensuring that the processing of personal data by INTERPOL complies with the applicable rules.

Susie is elected to the Request Chamber as a lawyer with data protection expertise. This is the Chamber which examines and decides on requests for access to data as well as requests for correction and/or deletion of data processed in the INTERPOL Information System. It also examines applications for revision.

Susie is one of seven new CCF members elected by INTERPOL’s General Assembly during its 89th session (Istanbul, Turkey, 23-25 November 2021) and will take office on 11 March 2022.

Her role on the CCF is entirely independent of her association with Chambers.

Further information and contact details for the CCF can be found here.
