Verdicts in Janus Henderson insider dealing trial

The Financial Conduct Authority brought a prosecution against four defendants for conspiring to deal on a regulated market in securities that were price affected in relation to insider information that Redinel Korfuzi (a former employee at asset management firm, Janus Henderson) had as an insider by reason of his employment. The price sensitive information was obtained through ‘wall-crossing’ by a number of banks, including Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse and was used to take short positions using Contracts for Difference, netting significant profits. After a four and a half month trial at Southwark Crown Court, the jury returned mixed verdicts. Richard Thomas KC and Tarquin McCulla (instructed by Berkeley Square Solicitors) were instructed for Dema Almeziad who was acquitted of both counts.
