Young defendant acquitted of murder and manslaughter

Katy Thorne KC and Sean Summerfield’s client was one of 6 young defendants charged with murder following a stabbing on the Old Kent Road.

After a 10-week trial at the Old Bailey, Katy and Sean’s client was unanimously acquitted of murder and manslaughter.  He was convicted – along with 3 others – of violent disorder for his part in a fight immediately preceding the fatal stabbing and will be sentenced for that later in the year.

He was released on bail the following day, having spent 9 months in custody awaiting trial.
