Yvonne Kramo secures acquittal of client accused of handling high value stolen goods
Yvonne Kramo successfully defended a man (‘LL’) accused of handling high value stolen goods. LL was the driver of a transit van that was apprehended by the police while at the entrance of an industrial estate. The van that LL was driving was a stolen vehicle. When police searched the van, they recovered stolen car parts in the rear. Police went on to search the estate that the van was poised to enter and recovered the parts of a substantial number of stolen vehicles. The value of the stolen vehicles was around £1 million. Another vehicle found on site was registered to an address, for which LL was named as the sole tenant on the tenancy agreement. A search of that address recovered various tools and equipment typically used to dismantle vehicle parts. Images of vehicle parts and vehicles without licence plates were recovered from LL’s mobile telephone. LL denied knowing that the goods at the back of the van were stolen. Furthermore, he denied knowledge of the stolen goods found on the estate and denied that he ever signed a tenancy agreement for, or resided at, the address where the tools were recovered.
Today, LL was acquitted on all counts by a jury at Reading Crown Court.
Yvonne was instructed by Hanisha Godhania of ABV Solicitors.
