In recent years the Home Office has increasingly used deprivation of citizenship as a tool to tackle perceived threats to national security, frequently including not only alleged extremists but also people accused of involvement in serious organised crime.  A series of judgments since the start of 2025 has clarified the correct approach of the Home Office and courts.
