Respondents: Bisi Alimi and Madeline Rees.

The AIDS crisis isn’t over and we are now engulfed by Covid-19. Have we learnt lessons from AIDS? Forty years on from when those first haunting images of gay men dying from an unknown condition began to emerge, now is the time to celebrate all those that live with HIV or died from AIDS. The gay community was simultaneously decimated and pilloried. Remarkably the community survived, and we have thrived, but was AIDS too high a price to pay for 21st century LGBTQ+ equality? AIDS taught us to love again. Let’s relearn that message for Covid-19.

AIDS taught us to love again. Let’s relearn that message for Covid-19.

Please join Doughty Street for this poignant, provocative and passionate lecture.
