The immigration team at Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to announce the arrival of two new tenants to strengthen our growing team, Camila Zapata Besso and Michael Spencer.

Camila (2016 call) joins us from Garden Court Chambers.  She is an immigration specialist who regularly appears in complex asylum, human rights and deportation appeals for vulnerable adults and children, including victims of human trafficking, modern slavery, torture and sexual violence, and judicial review challenges to detention, removal and trafficking decisions.  She has a strong commitment to international human rights and civil liberties work in the UK and abroad, with a specific focus on Latin America. Camila joins us on the 4th January.

Michael (2017 call) joins us from 1 Crown Office Row and was previously a solicitor-advocate specialising in public law and human rights. He was involved in strategic litigation challenging Government policy in the asylum support and social security fields at the Asylum Support Appeals Project, of which he is currently chair or trustees, and the Child Poverty Action Group.  He appears in a range of immigration appeals and in judicial review claims with a particular focus on the social welfare rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Mike will join us on the 1st March.
