Caragh Nimmo - Healthcare and Serious Medical Treatment

Caragh regularly acts in Court of Protection matters relating to health and welfare. She is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor and other litigation friends to act for vulnerable persons who lack capacity, as well as representing local authorities. Caragh has acted for parties in cases concerning complex medical issues including acquired brain injuries. Caragh was part of a team in chambers acting on behalf of RESPOND in its intervention before the Supreme Court in an appeal which confirmed the test for capacity to engage in sexual relations under the Mental Capacity Act (A Local Authority v JB (by his Litigation Friend, the Official Solicitor) [2021] UKSC 52.
