Claire Overman named The Times Lawyer of the Week
Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to congratulate Claire Overman for being named The Times Lawyer of the Week.
Claire was named Lawyer of the Week for her successful defence of Mill Media, its founder Joshi Herrmann and journalist Cormac Kehoe against defamation claims totalling over £250,000 issued by businessman Claudio de Giovanni, brought over an article about him in The Londoner. Mrs Justice Steyn threw out the claims, which the defendants considered to be SLAPPs, or lawsuits aimed at stifling public interest reporting. Read more about the case here.
