Company Director Acquitted of Fraud

Maryam’s client MB was alleged to have cheated the revenue of just under £1million between 2015-2020. She conducted a detailed analysis of the defendant’s telephone handset, laptop and emails considering over 120,000 messages over a five year period and extracting material that supported his defence to present to the jury. The defendant suffered with anxiety and depression, and Maryam enlisted expert support via Triangle, making submissions at a Ground Rules Hearing to ensure his effective participation during the trial. After a six week trial at Southwark Crown Court, the jury acquitted him unanimously. The defendant had waited five years to clear his name due to COVID delays.

Maryam was led by Tarquin McCalla, instructed by Nora Talbi, with expert telephone input from Dan Sutton and intermediary support from Mai Yasuhara (Triangle).
