Discharged: Prosecutor’s Office agreement

A Judge yesterday discharged IK, an Albanian citizen, from extradition proceedings.

The Prosecutor’s Office in the requesting territory had recently agreed with IK on a suitable sentence. The result of the agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office is that the Prosecutor’s Office has invited the convicting court to substitute its original sentence of a lengthy term of immediate imprisonment for a substantially lesser sentence. 

Consequently, the Prosecutor’s Office applied to a Judge in this jurisdiction to revoke the extradition request.  The extradition request had specified that IK was liable to serve a sentence of fifteen (15) years’ imprisonment.
