DSC Associate Tenant Nancy Hollander to be portrayed by Hollywood star Jodie Foster in ‘The Mauritanian’, a movie by Academy award winning director Kevin Macdonald based on the best-selling memoir of Guantánamo Bay detainee, Mohamedou Ould Salahi

Salahi spent 14 years in detention on suspicion that he was connected to the 9/11 terror attacks though no charges had ever been filed against him. He was released in 2016 after 11 years of pro bono representation by DSC’s Associate Tenant Nancy Hollander, an internationally recognised criminal defence lawyer from the Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA firm of Freedman Boyd Hollander Goldberg Urias & Ward P.A.

Nancy says: “I am excited about the film. And we all hope Mohamedou’s true story of torture, despair, hope and forgiveness, brought to the screen through the inspiration of director, Kevin Macdonald, will bring Guantanamo back into the public eye and will lead to closing Guantanamo forever.”

Doughty Street plans to host a screening in Spring, following the film’s February release.
