Farrhat Arshad to be appointed King’s Counsel

Doughty Street Chambers is immensely proud to announce that our leading crime junior, Farrhat Arshad, has been appointed King’s Counsel following her success in the 2023 competition.

Farrhat is described by Legal 500 as, “an advocate with a strong intellect. She thinks hard and bravely about her cases, always looking for a way to promote her clients' interests." (Legal 500 2023).

Farrhat is a specialist criminal barrister whose practice comprises serious crime, including murder, serious sexual offences, protest cases and fraud.  She also specialises in Criminal Appeals and is often instructed as fresh counsel in out-of-time appeals to the Court of Appeal in relation to both conviction and sentence.  Farrhat’s civil work centres on Judicial Reviews arising from both criminal and prison law, including challenges to CCRC decisions, Parole and categorization decisions, and appeals by way of case stated.

Farrhat’s appointment to King's Counsel, brings Chambers’ complement to a total of 42 Silks with leading reputations both domestically and internationally, across the range of criminal, public and administrative law.
