Inquest into the death of Semina Halliwell: Harriet Johnson acts for the family
The evidence in the inquest into the death of Semina Halliwell concluded this week, with the Assistant Coroner reserving the matter to consider her ruling on Article 2 and her final conclusion. Semina was a twelve-year-old girl from Southport who died after taking an overdose of medication in June 2021. In the months prior to her death she had reported being raped by an older boy from her school. After reporting the rape she had suffered retributive assaults, which were recorded and widely shared online. Other interested parties at the inquest included Semina’s school, Merseyside Police, social services, and two NHS trusts which had provided care to Semina.
