Joel Bennathan QC wins extradition case

Extradition refused: Turkey sought to extradite Ozgur Tanis for alleged PKK killings in the 1990s. Westminster Magistrates Court has refused, and ordered his discharge on the basis that his extradition would risk him being prejudiced by his ethnicity, would violate his right to a fair trial, and would amount to inhuman treatment given prison conditions in Turkey. Joel Bennathan QC acted for Mr Tanis, leading Claire Stevenson of 9 Kings Bench Walk, instructed by Ali Has of Morgan Has Solicitors.
