Jury acquits Omran Belhadi's client
A Bristol jury acquitted N, a man of good character of one count of rape and one count of attempted rape. Omran Belhadi represented the defendant at trial.
It was alleged that N raped the complainant on a caravan site during a New Year's Eve party. N's defence was that sex was consensual. The case involved legal argument under s.41 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999.
Through cross-examination the defence were able to demonstrate that witnesses had spoken to each other before giving evidence to the police.
N was acquitted after 2.5 hours of deliberation.
Omran was instructed by Claire Hewitt of ABV Solicitors.
