Kirsty Brimelow QC and Farrhat Arshad appointed as Recorders

Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to announce that Kirsty Brimelow QC and Farrhat Arshad have been appointed as Recorders, sitting on the South Eastern Circuit.

The Queen has appointed 163 Recorders on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, The Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP, and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, The Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. Kirsty has in depth practitioner expertise in criminal law and also in public law and international human rights law. She has particular expertise in homicide, fraud, sexual offences, drugs and torture cases, child rights and vulnerable witness cases and the law of peaceful protest. Read Kirsty’s full profile here.

Farrhat is a very experienced appellate barrister, acting in both conviction and sentence matters in the Court of Appeal. She has been described by the Court as presenting cases with, “conspicuous skill”. Her appellate practice also includes applications to the Privy Council and to the Criminal Cases Review Commission. Farrhat is instructed to defend in a wide variety of serious offences and acts for claimants in judicial reviews arising out of prison law and criminal law.
