Liam Walker and Rabah Kherbane secure the unanimous acquittal of their client on both attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life

Represented by Liam Walker and Rabah Kherbane, K was the first of four defendants on an indictment charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The Crown’s case relied upon CCTV, which captured the victim being shot with a sawn-off shotgun at point-blank range.

Successful applications were made to exclude contaminated identification evidence from two police officers, an alleged confession, and bad character.

Liam and Rabah also launched successful legal arguments under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, and successfully challenged prosecution evidence on cell site and association.

After a four-week trial, K was unanimously acquitted. K had been in custody awaiting his trial since February 2020. He had turned 21 years old whilst in custody waiting for his trial to be heard.

Liam and Rabah were instructed by Mark Smith, a partner at DJMS solicitors.
