Maryam Mir's client acquitted of historical sexual assault charges

Maryam represented a retired senior Trader charged with historical sexual assault. The complainant, his niece, had waited 7 years before making a complaint alleged to have occurred in the Novikov club and the Mayfair Hotel. Maryam cross examined the complainant on inconsistencies in her complaint, fabrications in her police interview and closely analysed historic message exchanges between them which undermined her account. Maryam was instructed by and advised alongside Francesca Reason and Lauren Dennis of Birketts Solicitors. After a 6 day trial, the defendant was unanimously acquitted of all three counts in under 3 hours of deliberations.
