University of Bristol Bar Society’s annual networking dinner

The President of the Supreme Court, The Right Honourable Lord Reed, will speak at tonight’s Bar Society’s annual black tie dinner. The dinner is for the University’s present Bar Society members to meet established practising barristers drawn from different fields of specialist practice. Abigail Bright is a guest and was a guest last year when the President of the King’s Bench Division gave the speech. Abigail has judged several moots for the Bar Society and lectured at the university.

In June, Abigail will defend in a Bristol murder, dating from 1967, before a High Court Judge; the trial concerns what is the oldest ‘cold case’ criminal review in England and Wales.  The defendant is aged 92.
