Doughty Street Chambers wins Set of the Year for both Crime and Media at the Chambers & Partners Bar Awards 2023

We are delighted to announce that our teams for Media and Crime  were award winners at this year’s Chambers & Partners Bar Awards, with Doughty Street Chambers being named as Set of the Year for both Crime and for Media, Privacy and Information Law.

Tributes were given during the ceremony speeches to honour the memories of our recently departed Media Team leader Heather Rogers KC who had been shortlisted for Media, Privacy and Information Law Silk of the Year, and Isabella (Issy) Forshall KC, our former joint head of the Crime Team.

Joint heads of our Crime team, David Bentley KC and Kirsty Brimelow KC, said, “We’re delighted to have won this award in recognition of our brilliant crime team and fantastic clerks headed by Matt Butchard - this award is for former co-head of the crime team, Issy Forshall KC, who we miss dearly, and for Matt’s father, Robin, who was a veteran clerk in this field.”

Recently appointed joint heads of the Media team, Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC and Jonathan Price said, “We are honoured that our clients, peers and Chambers and Partners have recognised the achievements of our media and information law team this year. Our team is deeply committed to freedom of expression and protecting media freedom, and this shows in our work, both in the UK and internationally. This award is a testament to our excellent media and information clerking team headed by Melvin Warner, and it is a timely honour to our former leader, Heather, who led the team so brilliantly”.

Co-team leader Jonathan Price was also a finalist for Media Junior of the Year.
