High Court dismisses all claims against Associated Newspapers Ltd in unlawful information gathering proceedings
A High Court judge has dismissed claims in which seven claimants alleged that the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday had carried out unlawful information gathering against them, including voicemail interception, between the late 1990s and 2015.
In a judgment handed down yesterday, Mr Justice Nicklin dismissed all claims arising from a high-profile three-month trial earlier this year. The judge found that the claimants had failed to prove that any unlawful information gathering had occurred.
The Claimants are Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon OBE, Elizabeth Hurley, Sir Elton John CH CBE, David Furnish, Sir Simon Hughes, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, and Sadie Frost Law. The claims of Ms Frost Law and Sir Simon Hughes were also dismissed on the ground that they were each statute barred under the Limitation Act.
