Met Police Detective Chief Inspector finally dismissed following successful Court of Appeal case
A reconvened police misconduct panel has ordered the dismissal of former DCI Mason from the Metropolitan Police due to his sexual harassment of Kristina O’Connor. This penalty decision follows a successful challenge in the Court of Appeal to the original approach taken by the panel in reaching its penalty decision (a final written warning) in February 2025.
The background to Ms O’Connor’s Court of Appeal challenge can be found here. The Court quashed a decision to impose a final written warning on a police officer who committed gross misconduct by sexually harassing Ms O’Connor after she called the police for help. The Court sent the matter back to the panel to retake its decision following the correct approach. The misconduct panel has now found that former DCI Mason’s gross misconduct was of sufficient seriousness to warrant dismissal.
Ms O’Connor is represented by Nancy Collins, partner, and Rebecca Argall, paralegal, of Bindmans. Further information can be found here.
Before the Court of Appeal, Ms O’Connor was represented by Maya Sikand KC and Rosa Polaschek of Doughty Street Chambers. Ms O’Connor was represented by Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, Fiona Murphy KC and Harriet Johnson in the Administrative Court.
