Steven Powles QC acts as all charges of torture dismissed in the Central Criminal Court

Steven Powles QC acted for the defendant, Agnes Reeves Taylor, as all charges of torture were dismissed in the Central Criminal Court today after an application to dismiss.

This follows the successful interlocutory appeal made before the Supreme Court earlier this year in which Tatyana Eatwell and Margherita Cornaglia were also instructed (read here). These are landmark proceedings regarding Article 1 of the UN Convention against Torture and cases of torture under s.134 Criminal Justice Act 1988.

Steven was instructed by Peter Finbow and Pat Wilson of Bark&co, and was led by Jonathan Laidlaw QC of 2 Hare Court.
